The North Cape – just as far from the North Pole as from Oslo<\/p><\/div>\n

We wake up to the sun – still – shining, and are unsure what is better, the view out of the window, or the view of the breakfast buffet. Sadly our tandem neither arrived yesterday(as was planned) nor today, and there is no way to rent bikes in Honningsv\u00e5g, so our only option is to go visit the North Cape by Bus, not wanting to get delayed by another day.<\/p>\n

We reach the northermost point of the European mainland at 19.45 – its foggy, with lots of wind. The whole plateau is empty and it takes us a few minutes to find someone to do the obligatory \u201cbeen there, done that\u201d pictures. Inside the building we are suprised to find not only a souvenir shop, but also a resaturant, cinema, \u201clight-cave\u201d, and even a chapell. we watch the 30-minute film, and when we want to go outside for another look at the north cape, not only does the sun peek out from behind a cloud, but the whole cape is full of what seems like all 3000 tourists from the cruiseship that arrived Honningsv\u00e5g 2h ago, I have to admit, fog and no humans were better.<\/p>\n

Leider ist unser Tandem wider erwarten weder gerstern (geplant) noch heute eingetroffen. Fahrr\u00e4der gibt es in Honningsv\u00fcg auch nicht zu leihen, also bleibt nur der Weg mit dem Bus ans Nordkapp, wenn wir nicht noch einen weiteren Tag verlieren wollen.<\/p>\n

Um 19:45 erreichen wir den n\u00f6rdlichsten Punkt vom europ\u00e4ischen Festland – im Nebel und bei pfeifendem, eisigen Wind. Das ganze Nordkapp-Plateau ist menschenleer und erst nach ein paar Minuten gesellt sich ein Paar aus der Slovakei zu uns, die das obligatorische Photo von uns vor dem Globus machen. Drinnen im Geb\u00e4ude wartet dann eine \u00dcberraschung auf uns: es ist nicht einfach nur ein plumper Souvenierladen, sondern ein Restaurant, Museum, Kino, Lichtgrotte und sogar eine Kapelle befindet sich in dem gr\u00f6\u00dftenteils unteridtischen Geb\u00e4udekomplex. Wir schauen uns einen 30-min\u00fctigen Film an, und als wir anschliessen wieder nach draussen kommen, scheint nicht nur sporadisch die Sonne, sondern das eben noch menschenleere Plateau ist von Touries \u00fcberf\u00fcllt. Wir merken die Folgen des Kreuzfahrtschiffes, das vor 2 h in Honningsv\u00fcg angelegt hat, und von dem die meisten der etwa 3000 Passagiere jetzt das Nordkapp besuchen.
